This Ramadan, we are digging solar-powered deep boreholes in Niger, so that hundreds of beneficiaries can have access to clean water daily in sha Allah!
This borehole will have numerous benefits for the community. Access to clean water can improve health by reducing waterborne diseases and increasing crop yields through irrigation. Additionally, with a deep borehole, women and children will no longer have to travel long distances to fetch water, freeing up time for education and other activities.
- In the long term, this sustainable solution can help alleviate poverty and improve the overall quality of life in the community.
- Beneficiaries: Approximately 600
- At the moment in these villages, clean water is not available. Locals have to travel far for water and often they must buy the water from a private water source.
- Depth: Approximately 50 meters or more
- The borehole will be equipped with solar panels, a solar pump and a water tanker. The tank will be connected to several taps.
- Some of the villagers will be trained in how to manage and sustain the borehole.
- This will, in sha Allah, also assist in reducing water-related diseases.
- Cost: £7,000
